Sweet Tooth-itis?
Anyone you know came down with sweet tooth-itis this Halloween? We can help with our Halloween candy buy back all this week. We will pay $1/pound of candy up to 5 pounds. Also you get entered into a raffle for movie tickets. Your candy will help local homeless shelters in Yolo County!

Valentine's Day Preparation
Valentine's Day is a holiday tailor-made for dental offices, don't you think? And with all that hugging and kissing going on, who better to give you a few tips on keeping that kisser fresh and clean than us? Here are four tried-and-true ways to ensure you're imminently kissable this February 14th!
- Floss and brush before you go out.
- Brush your tongue, or use a tongue scraper as an added measure.
- Stay hydrated. This one trick alone can help you stay fresh. So important!
- Bring along some sugar-free Xylitol gum to cover you up in a pinch.
Try each one of these Valentine's Day tips, and you'll feel confident while close all day long!

Jad makes the best coffee drinks!
Chocolate cheese cake with chocolate chips: rating of 4 toothbrushes (5 is hardest to clean your teeth, 1 is easiest to clean), hint of coffee with Oreo cookie crust. Softness of cream cheese stays on teeth, but crunchy crust to the help keep your teeth clean. Worth it!
Chocolate chunk cookie: rating of 3 toothbrushes. Crunchy chucks keeps your teeth clean after soft cookie...well any excuse to have a cookie.
White chocolate mocha drink: rating of 5 toothbrushes. Mountain of whip cream can be sticky, but tons of sweet caffeine to wash it down.
Cappuccino: rating of 5 toothbrushes. No sugar added...so increases our toothbrush rating, and yes the coffee part is the best.

Smiles for Kids 2015
Our office hosted Smiles for Kids again, over ten years now! With the help of Krista, Taka, Melissa, Christabel, Marina (left to right), and the Sacramento District Dental Society, we were able to deliver care at no charge. We only asked for a smile and for them to give up a Saturday.

Dry Mouth Relief
Do you have a dry mouth and why is it important to address? Dry mouth (less saliva flow) can lead to more cavities since your saliva buffers acid buildup from food, drinks, and cavity causing (acid producing) bacteria.
The spray below can stimulate more saliva flow when used throughout the day. Since your saliva is your best buffer against acid buildup, it can result in fewer cavities at your next visit. The spray is available in mint or grape. I prefer grape since it stimulates more saliva flow. Two to three sprays every few hours. We have it available in our office, or you can purchase direct at www.carifree.com
There are other products out there for dry mouth...most involve candies or carrying around a large rinse bottle. This can be carried in your purse or pant pockets. Most patients will tend to use something that is available to them when they need it.

Healthier alternative to Halloween candy
This Halloween, try a healthier alternative to regular candy. These from Dr. John's contain xylitol sugar to help reduce cavity causing bacteria and help promote tooth remineralization.
These just came in today; stop by the office to pick up some while supplies last. They taste great...and dentist approved!

Dentalicious Guide
Ready for Valentine's Day dessert? Think of our Dentalicious Guide. We are kicking off a rating system to give you an excuse to enjoy that dessert and still be a good dental patient.
1 toothbrush=easy to remove
5 toothbrushs=most difficult to remove
Check out what our team has to say about our choices. We are recruiting anyone from the public to join us.
My choice (Dr. Tran). Oatmeal cookies with strawberry ice-cream. Rating of 2. Reasons: Oatmeal chucks help to remove sugar delight. Raisins are sticky, but the best part of the cookie.
Brenda's choice: Chocolate Chip Cookie with French Vanilla ice cream. "I give it 2 toothbrushes because of the cookie being soft...stuck to my back molars.
Christabel's choice: I had the chocolate chip cookie with strawberry cheesecake ice cream. I give this combo a 3 toothbrush rating only due to the cookie. The icecream was fairly easy to remove, but the cookie was chewy and therefore made it slightly difficult to clean. Overall, completely worth it!

Smiles for Kids Day 2014
Super fun hosting the annual Smiles for Kids Day last Saturday 2.1.14. Thanks to Dr. Kim Wallace, Christabel, Brenda, Taka, Ashley, and Venetea for giving up their Saturday to give back. Special thanks to Christabel and Sacramento District Dental Society for the many hours put into organizing and bringing this event to our office and many offices in the Greater Sacramento area. Peet's Coffee & Tea and Dos Coyotes in Davis's Marketplace kindly donated coffee and lunch. We are proud to do this every year since 2005.
